I have decided today to allow my trusted MSR XGK II liquid fuel stove to retire. Bought in 1997 in Seattle, it has survived a large variety of fuels only to fail in 2017 when, I suspect, some chemical additions to the unleaded fuel bought in Tbilisi did something to its new(!) pump so that it couldn’t keep the required output pressure, although the fuel in the bottle was well pressurized. Ironically, at home, and with pure fuel, the beast worked as if nothing happened… As it did today for its last farewell burn.
