Inconsistency proof

A proof of inconsistency of a first order finite difference scheme for the one-dimensional diffusion equation, where diagonal terms are treated implicitly and extra-diagonal ones explicitly. In the middle it is shown that the scheme is stable, and then the limit for the numerically modified viscosity when the physical viscosity goes to infinity is estimated. Below the consequences of the inconsistency if advective terms are added forming a skewed transport equation.
